My salesman, Brandon, is a good guy, and the gentleman I worked with in finance seemed solid, but overall, very disappointed with the dealership. I put a $2000 deposit down on the car I wanted, with the understanding that I could come see the car the next day and if for some reason we were not able to make a deal, then I could get my deposit back. When I made the deposit there was no indication that this was a non-refundable deposit, so I proceeded. If it did say the deposit was non-refundable, then I would not have made the deposit. When I arrived at the dealership, there was some misunderstanding, admittedly on my part but also on the part of the dealership. I am not an expert, the dealership is, but rather than help guide me through my concerns to help find a solution, Rob, the person sitting at the elevated desk (a manager I’m sure) threatened that if I didn’t go through with the purchase, they would keep my deposit. It was so sad. It was not about the money. I have only worked in cash with this and other dealers in high-dollar transactions and they were threatening me for a couple thousand dollars? Again, it was the shift to a threatening and intimidating tone to extort me to complete the transaction or else. At one point in the conversation, I was the one who had to say, “I am trying to repair this situation to try to get this done but I don’t feel like you are.” I would have hoped they would have been more understanding, more empathetic to understand why I was concerned and guided me through to a solution to salvage the sale, but no, they were willing to sacrifice an established, and cash paying customer for a measly $2000 deposit. Ultimately Rob did agree to give me my deposit back, which is good, but I didn’t want my deposit, I wanted the car. And in the end I was the one who suggested how we could resolve my concern. And it was Brandon, my salesman who assisted with getting things in process, which is all I wanted so I could get my wife the car she wanted. So I bought the car, but I do not feel good about how things went. I am so disappointed compared to my previous experience with SLV GMC. I would like to go back. I want another truck, which will be over $100k in cash when it comes out, and I want to buy it the day it becomes available, but I don’t know that I could work with a dealer that places $2000 over the relationship I thought we had when I first reached out to them again. Like I said, I don’t feel good after this purchase, I feel sad that they could care less about me.
